Claudia Taylor: State of Jefferson would resemble Founding Fathers’ vision

The State of Jefferson (SOJ) would free the people of the 20 northern counties of California from the bondage of California government and much of federal government, too.

The SOJ government would more closely resemble that which our Founding Fathers envisioned for the states — entities that would provide only those functions that each local community could not provide for themselves.

The 20 counties have been stripped of their ability to be a thriving economy because of state and federal regulations. SOJ envisions not being subject to many of those regulations; thus, its economy, as a state, would thrive.

The main premise for SOJ is lack of representation. The needs of the northern 20 counties are very different and those counties (including Nevada County) must always settle for what the rest of the state legislators agree upon or lose money. In other words, they are hostages — unless they get more representation. That’s the fight!

There are 11 counties declared “in” and two more very close. Nevada County, sign the petition at 256 Buena Vista St., Grass Valley to get SOJ on the June ballot. Then, voice your rightful opinion!
