Chelsea Martin: Transients camping behind apartment complex

It is regrettable that transients with vehicles don’t have any designated camping areas in the Grass Valley area.

It has been my unfortunate experience to have multiple transient vehicles — trucks, trucks with trailers and trucks with campers — parked nightly behind my apartment complex for months on end. Calls to law enforcement have not been successful in moving these people along. Town Talk Road has become the nightly destination for hapless souls who don’t seem to have anywhere else to go.

It makes me very uncomfortable to have these caravans parked less than 100 feet from my back door night after night. I don’t feel comfortable enjoying my back patio, as these transient folks peer at me. I have to keep the curtains to my apartment closed to gain privacy in my own home. I am subjected to noise, litter, urination, dogs and squabbles as well as feeling like a fish in a bowl on display to the myriad of campers parked behind my home.

The residents of Nevada City Senior Apartments are currently subjected to this misfortune and are the victims of a clear lack of direction from the City of Grass Valley and law enforcement. I’ll take a guess and say that if this situation existed in any one of our city leaders’ or law enforcement persons’ backyard it wouldn’t take any time at all for this situation to come to an end. I beg of you … clean it up!
