Carol Kuczora: LaMalfa still a science denier

LaMalfa is still a science denier. I recently had the rare experience of actually seeing our U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa at a very small meeting of Chamber of Commerce members in Grass Valley.

Asked about what policies he supports to accommodate to climate change, mitigate it, and respond to climate refugees (things concerning the Pentagon these days, as well as all climate scientists), he pulled out the old line: the climate always changes, and the statistical devices used to simplify data curves amount to scientific fraud.

I’m sorry, but we don’t have time to stick our heads in the sand. Humans have knocked the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans out of their extremely delicate balance, and we have to deal with it to save our children.

LaMalfa routinely refuses to participate in League of Women Voters candidate forums, often preventing his challenger from being heard, since the league can’t have only one candidate appear. We’ll see if he makes an exception tonight, when candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, and state Senate are all invited to the Nevada County Board of Supervisors chambers at 6:30 p.m.
