Brooke Condon: Let’s keep our streets safe

Let me start by saying I was born and raised in this gorgeous county and I love this place. A huge part of why this county is wonderful is the small-town atmosphere.

Knowing that you are safe walking down the street, and your children are safe walking home from the bus stop. Until recently. It seems there are more and more incidents of attempted child abductions. Earlier this week law enforcement was able to catch, and arrest a man that allegedly attempted to grab a 10-year-old girl. Kudos!

I am absolutely disgusted with the bail amount set for this man, $22,000? So this man will be on our streets again after a mere $2,200 of posting bail? He was reportedly found with a hammer in his sweatshirt and a knife, his vehicle had 10 additional hammers. Sickens me to think what would have happened if this brave girl didn’t fight back and escape. Come on Nevada County let’s keep our streets safe, and our children innocent.

Let’s make these people pay for their actions and allow our hard-working local law enforcement to feel like they are actually making a difference by serving and protecting this beautiful community.

According to the articles and opinions I read in the paper, The Union seems to be interested in the population getting vaccinated against COVID-19, yet the best method of reporting the value of vaccinations is…
