Allan Krosner: Climate change agenda started by UN

Regarding Dick Sciaroni’s letter to the editor on Sept. 15, let’s not nitpick others’ credentials.

Mr. Sciaroni wants us to believe that it is not possible for the National Academy of Sciences to be politically motivated.

The NAS was created by politicians (Congress) and its founding act states:

“[T]he Academy shall, whenever called upon by any department of the Government, investigate, examine, experiment, and report upon any subject of science or art …”

This means that is agenda is set by government departments. The NAS is a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The ICSU receives some of its income from UNESCO and other UN bodies.

The whole subject of Climate Change was started by the world’s premier political agency, The UN, in 1992 with the creation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
