Alexandra Maloney: Adopt a barn cat

What are the benefits of having a barn cat (or two)? Sammie’s Friends Animal Shelter has many barn cats that would enjoy working on your property.

Their jobs include: chasing away mice, rats, gophers, snakes, lizards, and killing off the rodents that stick around. In order to adopt a barn cat, these animals need to have a safe, high place to hide from predators, and access to food and water. Barn cats are very good hunters and they enjoy working on your property, but they will usually not be friendly, lap cats. (Although Sammie’s Friends have some great lap cats too!) If you are interested in adopting barn cats, please contact Ruth Monday through Friday at 530-274-1955.
