After long search, new patients find doctor

I found the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital article in the Healthy Tuesday section of July 8 perplexing. While it is admirable that they have joined up with Healthgrades, I don’t see it as being notable.

Healthgrades has been available online for quite some time and one can find most doctors on their site. What one can’t find on that site is what insurance the doctor is affiliated with, and if the doctor is accepting new patients.

Interestingly, I contacted the Sierra Nevada Medical Group, which is affiliated with Dignity Health Medical Group on May 13. Since moving to this area last summer, my husband and I were in search of new doctors. I was told by the receptionist at SNMG that none of their doctors were accepting new patients and was advised to contact the hospital for a list of physicians. The hospital, kindly and immediately, emailed me a “Physician Referral List – Physicians Accepting New Patients.” I found it to be quite a short list and void of any SNMG physicians.

Happily, after a long search, my husband and I have found a very competent and friendly doctor with Sierra Care Physicians. It’s unfortunate that SNMH and SNMG aren’t available to our new community members.
