A student’s kind gesture

Thank you to Maya Anderman for her heartfelt tribute to to her English literature teacher, Michael Cartan, who is about to retire from his 38-year career in the classroom.

Amid what often seems a high-speed, surface-skimming style of life, it is heartening to find that there are still teachers and students willing to make the slower and more arduous journey into the depths and intricacies of great literature. They have surely discovered a treasure trove of immense riches together.
