Let’s work to save the beavers

To all animal lovers: The Fish and Game Department considers beavers as pests and will kill them. My mother-in-law has a beaver family in her pond doing what beavers do … building a dam. We called the Fish and Game people to see if we could get help relocating them. They told us they don’t relocate beavers, they exterminate them.

Sure, they’re pests, but so are the Fish and Game people … sometimes. There are a lot pests and bothersome things up here in the woods, but to kill something just to keep from dealing with it is nuts. These are beautiful creatures, and they’re just trying to get by, the way most of us are.

The Fish and Game Department’s logic is archaic and idiotic. If there isn’t an agency or group willing to help these poor creatures, let’s start one. Please contact us with your suggestions at (530) 273-2251.
