Let’s have more of Jeff’s opinions

Some newspaper publishers stay secluded in the back room, green plastic visor pulled low over their forehead, oblivious to everything except trying to balance the goal of full news coverage with the need for full advertising revenue. Other publishers, meanwhile, manage to keep one eye on the bottom line while being visible on the street and offering their community perspective through an occasional editorial column.

Fortunately, Jeff Ackerman is a publisher with the latter trait.

Jeff’s April 23 editorial column in The Union was literate, humorous, penetrating and laced with righteous sarcasm. As a pale Irishman with solar-sensitive skin, I, too, am often accused of walking around with a red neck. Sometimes, even a liberal application of high-octane, political sun screen won’t help.

You keep writing, Jeff, and I’ll keep reading.
