Feiffer’s World a comedy presented by special arrangements with Dramatics Play Service Inc. “Feiffer’s World,” is a sophomore project, students produced and directed; the 15 student cast performs the play, an interpretation of the work of Jules Feiffer at the Don Baggett Theater in Grass Valley. Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets $3.



Midnight At Mel’s the popular 1950s musical comedy by Off Broadstreet returns to the cabaret dessert theater located at 305 Commercial St. in Nevada City. “Midnight At Mel’s” tells the story of a group of misfits at a roadside diner in the obscure little desert town of Trona in 1959 who hope to be chosen to perform on a new TV variety show to be aired on ABC opposite CBS’ Ed Sullivan. Nostaligic hit songs of the ’50s abound as the groups tries out several different musical and comedy ideas for their showcase act, even pioneering songs later made famous by other artists. Live music 7:15 p.m. Performances are 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 26, 7:15 p.m. Feb. 10, and 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Admission is $18-Thursdays and Sundays, $20-Fridays, and $22-Saturdays. Empire Mine public tours take place daily at Empire Mine State Historic Park. The park offers miles of hiking trails and picnic area along the river and the opportunity for bird watching and wildlife viewing.
