Empire Mine State Historic Park tours take place daily. Bourn Cottage tour 1 p.m., mine yard tour 2 p.m. Park admission is $3 for 17 and older, $1-for children 6 to 16 years; children are free. Guided tours are $1.50 per tour for adults. Park hours are 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Weather permitting. 273-8522.

Opening Ceremony for the Sand Mandala takes place at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center in Grass Valley, 11 a.m. The San Mandala will be on display from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday through January. 272-4725.
