Let business handle it

In a recent letter to the editor the writer wrote that there are many letters expressing complaints about our country’s problem but seldom any that offer solutions. I would like to refer him to my letter last month offering the solution for one of his major problems, health care, and suggest that it will work for most of the other problems that he lists. The answer is simply to get the government out of the way and let the private sector handle them.

We all know that the private sector produces all of the good things that we have in America. On the other hand our government produces nothing. It can only take money away from some and give it to others. This win-lose relationship between different segments of our population creates a lot of antagonism and disrupts the natural win-win cooperation that makes the private sector work so well.

Cooperation and compassion are natural for most. On the other hand, coercion is neither natural or productive. There is a false dream that many citizens have that politicians can solve problems with government coercion. Hopefully, such voters will soon wake up from their dream.
