Lessons from Super Bowl

The halftime show at the Super Bowl turned out to have some positive aspects for this parent of a 10-year old-daughter.

First, I was proud that my daughter was disgusted by the actions of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson. We discussed how Justin repeated the lyrics “I will have you naked before this song is through” before he ripped Janet’s top, the logical outcome was exactly what happened. So, we both agreed that lyrics actually mean something and aren’t just words. This turned to a good chat about she how wishes to be treated by boys when she starts dating and to be leery of those who say things like Justin’s words.

Secondly, after feeling pain for Janet’s parents, I took comfort in thinking that their son Michael Jackson would be a gentleman and not grope young women … Michael prefers boys.
