group to meet

A citizens’ advisory group to the Bureau of Land Management will meet in Grass Valley Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. The Central California Resource Advisory Council will meet in the Arletta Douglas Room of the Holbrooke Hotel, 212 West Main St., beginning at 8 a.m. both days.

The council is a 12-member body appointed by the secretary of the interior to advise BLM on public land management issues. Members represent various interest groups, including the public at large. Friday will predominantly be an orientation for new advisory council members, followed at 3 p.m. with a preview of the next day’s Yuba Gold Fields’ tour.

At 3:30 p.m. there will be an open comment period for the public. Saturday will consist entirely of the field trip to the Yuba Gold Fields.

Written comments will also be accepted, either at the meeting or at the BLM office in Bakersfield. For more information, contact BLM Public Affairs Officer Larry Mercer at (661) 391-6010 or Cindy MacWhinney, public contact representative, at (661) 391-6012.
