Lamphier on target

I have just read Terry Lamphier, “Other Voices,” March 10. My reaction? Bravo!

I attended both the Planning Commission and the City Council meetings that considered the rezoning of a parcel on Litton Hill for commercial use. Mr. Lamphier analyzed the key issues regarding this proposal both accurately and succinctly. The council’s failure to see past the “BriarPatch” element of the proposal was significant. And its failure to address the impact of creating a commercial footprint in the Litton Hill Business Park, as well as the impact on our ongoing traffic problems, was a serious error. It will effect all of us in the future. Council members should abandon this “feel good” type of decision making. Instead, they should rely on the General Plan, the California Environmental Quality Act and their Planning Commission. And I hope that the Planning Commission will continue to include Mr. Lamphier because his honest, straight-from-the-shoulder analysis will be extremely beneficial in the major planning decisions facing our city in the near future.
