Lacking in facts

In regards to the op-ed piece by Mr. Kroot on Aug. 9:

Mr. Kroot claims to be interested in facts, but his essay was sadly lacking in them. With all due respects to an elderly citizen of our community, I must take exception to his statements.

Jewish “dominion” in the Middle East historically was sporadic, at best. But my main complaint is with the statement “Muslims turn their backs” to Jerusalem to pray. As a Muslim neighbor of Mr. Kroot’s, here in Rough and Ready (small world, truly), I pray toward both Jerusalem and Mecca. It’s really unavoidable from most anywhere in the world, due to the geographical proximity of the two sanctuaries.

Since Mr. Kroot claims to be interested in facts, it is a well-known historical fact that the Blessed Prophet Muhammad began his mission praying toward Jerusalem. The only “dominion” over Jerusalem, is, was, and forever shall be God’s dominion. He is the absolute owner of Jerusalem, Mecca, Washington, Peking and, yes, Rough and Ready. And he will never bless or honor bullies, thugs, thieves or liars, no matter if they call themselves Muslim, Jew or Christian; he sees their hearts.

The Union really should be embarrassed printing such divisive and prejudiced columns.
