KVMR firmly committed

Richard Somerville’s Feb. 28 column may have left the impression that KVMR-FM had skipped a League of Women Voters supervisor candidate forum in the south county. However, our news staff does not recall being asked to be on the media panel and never confirmed we’d be able to be there. It might be better to doublecheck something like this before including it so prominently in an article.

As always, KVMR’s news department remains firmly committed to covering the lively discussions of county government, policies and elections. In fact, when the league decided not to sponsor forums in 2002, KVMR’s Mike Thornton stepped in to coordinate them, in conjunction with other local media. Also, his efforts on a forum earlier this year (before the league resumed sponsorship) and Carolyn Crane’s role as its moderator earned praise for their professionalism in a letter from candidate Nate Beason.
