Food Bank gifts appreciated

The Food Bank of Nevada County would like to extend our sincere appreciation to so many in our community for your holiday gifts to the Food Bank. It is through the generosity of caring individuals such as you that allows us to continue our efforts to feed the hungry in Nevada County.

The Union newspaper staff, Social Services employees, students from Forest Lake Christian School, Bear River High School, E Clampus Vitus members, the Collectables, Nevada County Chapter of Chevron Retirees, and many individuals in the county contributed generously.

Your gifts help us help others.

Our heartfelt wishes for a peace-filled holiday.

Turkey Feed support fantastic

Last month, Grand Fathers Motorcycle Club and ABATE Local 52 of Grass Valley held their 3rd annual Mountain Turkey Feed to help the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition and Childs Advocates of Nevada County.

The response was fantastic. It is with thanks to the many merchants, members and friends that helped us with donations, and the hundreds that attended, bearing toys and food, that will bring joy to many families over the holidays. A special thank you to Dr. Jay Pratt for taking the pictures with Santa on a Harley. We couldn’t have done this without the help of so many.

Kudos to perky Youth writer

I really enjoy the Youth page. The Dec. 16 one was especially interesting. Miss Natalie Russell must be one of those “perky” people about whom she wrote. Her articles are always interesting, demonstrate some research, some sensitivity, and a wonderful sense of humor. And she was “right on” with this one. Reminds me of an old saying, “Be pleasant until 10 a.m. and the rest of the day will take care of itself.” Or “Smile and the world smiles with you.” I’ll bet she’s fun to be around. Kudos to her.
