Kirby’s thanks NUHS

For seven years, I have had the privilege of owning Kirby’s Creekside Restaurant and Bar. For seven years, I have had the honor of employing and working with some of the best students Nevada Union High School has to offer. For seven years, I have proudly watched as several employees matured and developed into young adults. This sense of privilege, honor nd pride was echoed for the community in your Feb. 12 Generation Why? insert.

Cole Richey wrote an article titled “Good Things Come In Small Packages” on page 3 about his friend and co-worker, Nathan Schwartz, sous chef at Kirby’s Creekside. We are convinced, without exaggeration, that Nathan will become one of the best chefs in the country. He represents himself and his classmates with rare discipline, maturity and respect. While Nathan has a great future, I acknowledge and appreciate other past and present employees, including Cole, who have the character to represent their classmates, their generation and our community so well.

Kirby’s Creekside has been able to serve our community for seven years, in part, because of the continued efforts and work ethics of past and present Nevada Union students and employees. These past employees and graduates of Nevada Union include several college graduates, a valedictorian, scholarship winners, class officers, local sports stars and employees who have advanced at Kirby’s or with other employers in the area – in other words, contributors to our community.

My thanks to all of them for giving me the opportunity to know them, and in part, help influence their lives.
