Kenneth Traylor graduated from U.S. Navy basic training Dec. 20 as a Recruit Chief Petty Officer of Division 033. He was awarded the Military Order of the World Wars Award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for professional achievement in the application of lifesaving measures while assigned as seaman recruit at Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill., Nov. 30.

Displaying exceptional skill and composure, Seaman Recruit Traylor responded to a shipmate who had collapsed. He provided critical aid until an ambulance arrived. Seaman Recruit Traylor’s professionalism, initiative and loyal devotion to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest tradition of the United States Naval Service.

He is the son of Denney Traylor of Grass Valley and Lesa Rothchild Traylor of Yuba City. He is a 2002 graduate of Nevada Union High School.
