Keep Greenhorn Creek quiet during late at night

Here it is two o’clock in the morning, and some yahoo is shooting off what sounds to be either a semi-automatic or machine gun due to the rapid and loud popping I’m hearing coming from Greenhorn Creek.

I knew what I got into when I moved to this rural area. I knew that I’d be hearing the gravel operations during the weekday, off-road enthusiasts on the weekends, and the occasional partiers at night. I know that the creek area has public access and that most who go down there are being responsible. I thank you responsible folks for that. But you who feel you can come to the creek and shoot off your illegal guns in the middle of the night, you have another think coming.

I will call the sheriff every time I hear gun activity at Greenhorn Creek between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. (We work and have school-age kids, fear for our safety and need our sleep!)

I did call the sheriff this time, they did respond, and unfortunately did not find anyone. But they did show up, and I appreciate that. This is not the first time I’ve had to call them and Hansen Bros. to let them know of the activity, and it won’t be the last. I doubt that the idiots doing the shooting are reading the paper, but maybe their friends or relatives will and pass on the information.
