Joy at ‘theme park’

Sandy Starkey

It saddened me to read the May 7 letter comparing the future home of Twin Cities Church to what the letter-writer called a “Jesus theme park.” On reflection, I came to see that in some ways there may be some similarities. By definition, a theme park is a place of recreation where one may experience joy, gratification, exultation and cheer.

This is my experience since first coming to Twin Cities seven years ago. I’ve come to know life and to “have it to the fullest” (John 10:10); the life Jesus offers all who come to Him; the life that came at such a high cost to Him, but is ours for the taking.

I’m excited, as are all of us who planned, worked and prayed for this land and a place where others may come and experience this thrill – the thrill of knowing Jesus and the difference he makes in our lives.

Many clamor to the nation’s theme parks, and, I believe, many are searching and hungry for true re-creation and meaning in their lives. It is our hope that many will ultimately find that joy at the future “theme park” that is Twin Cities Church!
