Jesus is reason for Christmas

This Christmas, may we remember that Christ, God the father, and time with family and friends are what matters. My heart grieves as I watch people become sad and stressed at Christmas over lack of money or loneliness. If you have a family, be grateful for them, not for the value of what you receive in gifts. If you are alone, reach out to those who are alone and find the miracle of Christmas. Some of my best years have been when I have done just that. Volunteer to show the love of Christ this Christmas – you will never regret it.

As an area native, I grew up in a house behind my grandpa’s store in Union Hill. Fond memories of listening to local carolers still fill my heart. With power often out due to snow, sometimes they would not appear until 8 or 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Regardless, we patiently waited for those “angel voices” to come and sing the songs that carried us back to the time of Jesus’ birth.
