It’s the woman who makes the commitment to a new child

In a recent letter to the editor, the writer, a man, is attempting to tell women what is and is not important about reproduction. Stating that “motherhood is demanding work,” he was at least tacitly acknowledging the notion that it is the woman who will, and is expected to be, the caregiver to the child. It is the woman who makes the commitment to that new life and it is she who must decide what is moral or immoral.
