Irresponsible reporting

When an elected official is inept at their job we can vote them out. What does one do when the only local newspaper irresponsibly slanders innocent people? I’m referring to the Union’s article on 5/19 “Captain’s paid leave tallies $29,300.” By its own admission, The Union took an educated “guess” at Mr. Duncan’s salary but published it as fact anyway.

The article goes on to say The Union received several “anonymous” letters and e-mails that could not be verified by “independent sources.” This, however, didn’t deter The Union from publishing these baseless allegations in the very next paragraph. Not wanting to wait for the results of the ongoing investigation The Union decided to print rumor and innuendo.
