Irresponsible pet owners

In response to the article on March 22, compassion for animals, it amazes me that people that move here from the cities have no clue. I feel sorry for the pets that pay with their lives because their owners are like you and think that now you’re here your pets can roam free.

Let me ask you, have you ever had to comfort your child because his 4-H show goat was killed in her pasture by someone’s beloved dog that was allowed to roam free? I have fenced my property to keep my animals in and the neighborhood dogs out and still I must deal with the neighbor’s dog that dug under my fence to roam and be a potential threat to my livestock. I have reported this to animal control, but they can only do so much.

So as long as there are people like you, who think it is OK for pets to be exploring and be inquisitive, there will be people like me who will protect their livestock with any means that it takes, and if that means to shoot them, oh well. So if your beloved Fido is missing someday, maybe a livestock owner like me took care of the problem for clueless pet owners like you.
