Innocent plea to beating charges

A 31-year-old Grass Valley man accused of beating a Nevada City man then running him down with his Subaru pleaded innocent to the charges.

Gary Doshier was arrested in January for allegedly beating 28-year-old Nevada City resident Shane Hoffman at the Flyers gas station on the 12000 block of Nevada City Highway, then running him down as Hoffman tried to get his license plate number.

Hoffman was sent to the hospital with moderate injuries. Doshier reportedly made no attempt to stop and fled the scene, followed by several witnesses. He was stopped by a California Highway Patrol officer who arrested him for drunken driving, driving with a suspended license and assault with a deadly weapon.

He pleaded innocent to the charges Feb. 3 and is scheduled to appear in Nevada County Superior Court for a preliminary hearing March 2.
