Initiative worrisome

This is the last straw! The paid advertisement accusing The Union of bias against the anti-NH 2020 groups is outlandish. The Union has treated their cause very fairly, giving them a lot of space in columns and letters to the editor. Now the group wants The Union to censor letters that comment negatively on their issues and contain inaccuracies. Their own letters would be the first to go if this happened.

I have read everything they have placed in the paper, trying to find something constructive, or perhaps some alternative ideas on how to deal with conserving open space in the county. I have found nothing but fantasies, fears and accusations. They accuse NH 2020 of tearing the county apart. I accuse them of using NH 2020 to try to tear the county apart.

These are the same folks who are bringing us an initiative that allows them to sue the county if their property values are lowered due to county regulations. I call this the “If I Can’t Get My Own Way and Build a Shopping Mall on My Land, Somebody Has To Pay” initiative.

And who would pay? We the taxpayers would pay. Think of all the county necessities that would then be short of funding.

Anyone who signs the initiative petition or votes for it would have to be nuts.
