In service: Erik Briggs

Erik P. Briggs has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Briggs has arrived in Balad, Iraq, to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He is an aircraft engine mechanic with 20 years of military service, normally assigned to the 932nd Maintenance Squadron, Clarksville, Tenn.



His parents, John and Frances Briggs, reside in Grass Valley.

His wife, Gina, is the daughter of Tony and Janet Lombard of Weed.




The master sergeant is a 1984 graduate of Hayward High School.
