I’ll fish the Yuba despite sign

Having fished the Yuba River at Highway 20 for many years, I was excited when the area south of the bridge was opened to the public.

Monday I walked up the north side above Highway 20 to flyfish. Standing in front of me was an 8-foot-square sign stating “private property and no trespassing except for a Yuba River fly fishing club.” More checking revealed a very expensive membership trying to control all river access upstream.

I watched as fisherman shook their heads as they passed. Fisherman win a battle for access to a beautiful river, only to have it taken over by people looking to make a profit. I’ll fish the river and ignore your sign. The high-water mark-rule is still in effect. Shame on you. Don’t represent yourself as fisherman.
