Hypothetical situation raises a question

Concerning a letter printed in The Union on Jan. 31, “Protesting the protesters,” I would like to pose a hypothetical situation.

A woman walks up to a man in the middle of a large crowd, pulls out a gun and shoots the man in the head. When the police asked her why she did it, she posed these questions:

What if he is a serial killer? What if he is like Hitler? What if he uses terrible weapons against me and others in the future? What if he supplies weapons to our enemies, such as al-Qaida?

Were her actions just and justifiable?
