Hurley graduation


Catherine Eileen (Trina) Hurley graduated May 30 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa., as a doctor of medicine. Some 212 students participated in the 184th Commencement Ceremony of Thomas Jefferson University.

Catherine was awarded the E. Harold Hinman Memorial Prize for extraordinary interest and accomplishment in family medicine.

Catherine is the daughter of Sharon Hurley of Penn Valley and Tim Hurley of Albuquerque, N.M.

She is a 1995 graduate of Nevada Union High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with a bachelor’s degree in physical anthropology.

She is doing her residency in family practice at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa.


Steven T. Smith of Nevada City received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Linfield College in Oregon.

A total of 493 candidates for degrees were presented during Linfield College’s spring commencement exercises on June 1.
