Human life respected

Today, the words that Mother Teresa addressed to our Supreme Court in 1995 are appropriate for our nation – “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate of human relationships … It has portrayed the greatest of gifts – a child – as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience.”

We live in a disposable world where soldiers/civilian lives are mere statistics, criminals are eliminated through lethal injection and “unplanned/unwanted” pre-born babies are cleanly terminated. All of this in the name of a safer, more convenient and more comfortable world. How truly sad.

The reality is that there will be no peace in this world, not in Iraq or Palestine or the USA, until the dignity of every human life, pre-born or born, is fully respected.

For the 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, let us pray that all human life will be respected in our laws and actions as a nation.
