Hospitality House’s history

It’s a shame the opening of the welcome center for Hospitality House has been delayed. Contrary to rumor, Hospitality House actually has a very good track record. There was never an assault at the welcome center or at any of the churches last year.

Instead, police were called to prevent one and did just that. The person involved was mentally ill and needed medication and help. We provided that. No one in the center, no person, no monitor, no staff were ever assaulted or hurt.

We would like to set the record straight. 911 was also called several times to assist in getting guests medical treatment needed immediately. We monitored the neighborhood daily and saw to it that there were few incidents to report. We do not admit those suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We see to it that they have a taxi or bus ride they need to be on their way. They do not stay in the neighborhood.

Hospitality House provides a safe place of dignity for those who are not under the influence. Our welcome center is probably more peaceful and safe than many homes in the neighborhood. Come to volunteer sometime to see for yourself.
