History photo was a pleasant surprise

I wanted to thank you for printing the photo on the history page of the Oct. 19 paper. The article was about the woman pictured on the far right of the photo, Muriel Branegan. My grandmother graduated from Grass Valley High, and since she doesn’t receive the paper, I thought she would enjoy seeing the picture, especially since she later worked at the Empire Mine. Much to my surprise, she is in fact pictured in that photo, second from the left. Helen Stewart (Lobecker) was that year’s student body president. What a nice surprise for her and me. It is always interesting to see old photos from this area, especially when we recognize the content.
