Harvest Faire

What a wonderful community we live in! The teachers, families and staff of Tall Pines Nursery School would like to thank Briarpatch Community Market for providing the school with a scholarship from their Community Fund. The scholarship was presented during their Harvest Faire on Sunday, Oct. 10. The funds will be used to expand our children’s garden area and will certainly be enjoyed for many years to come.

Quail Ridge

Sierra Services for the Blind would like to thank Dennis Sisley and Quail Ridge Senior Living for supporting the elderly blind of our community with both the Yard Sale and Lunch event, and another of their successful Quail Ridge Brunch events as benefit for Sierra Services. It is organizations like Quail Ridge who dedicate themselves to local issues and nonprofits which make our service to the blind and visually impaired possible.

Creek keepers

The South Yuba River Citizens League thanks Steve Darden’s fifth-grade class at Deer Creek Elementary and Shawna Maziarz’s high school students at The Woolman semester. These students labeled storm drains in Nevada City with the message “No Dumping, Drains to Deer Creek.” The water that enters our storm drains, whether it’s clean or dirty, flows straight into Deer Creek without being cleaned. The new labels will help keep pollution out of Deer Creek and the Yuba River. This work wouldn’t have been possible without the help of these dedicated volunteers-thank you!
