Harp workshop for cancer victims

A free, 12-week harp workshop for cancer patients, survivors and family members will start on Sept. 10, sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Cancer Center.

Instructor Lisa Stine will teach the classes from 1 to 3 p.m. for 12 successive Fridays. The class meets in the Outpatient Center conference rooms at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Call 274-6872 to register.

Twelve 23-string Celtic harps are available for rental at $60 each for the entire workshop.

Stine is a clinical music therapist. She said students need no prior musical experience to participate and enjoy the workshop.

The harp workshop is part of the Cancer Center’s extensive healing support activities, which also include writing, painting, and other activities.
