Great courage

Senator Barbara Boxer demonstrated great courage on Thursday by standing up to bring to light the numerous examples of voter suppression and voter fraud which took place not only in Ohio, but also in many other states.

The purpose of the speech was not to deny Bush’s election Ð that was a foregone conclusion, given the Republican majority in both houses of Congress Ð but to make others aware of the suppression of black (Democratic) voters and the abuse of office by a partisan Secretary of State who was running the Bush-Cheney campaign in Ohio. (Why does that all sound vaguely familiar?).

If we cannot trust our right to be represented by our vote, or even to be “allowed” to vote, we do not have a Democracy. On C-SPAN even some Republicans called in to express dismay at the voter fraud and suppression … and that their fellow GOP’ers were trying to stop these crimes from being aired and fixed. Voter fraud is a double-edged sword, and next time it could work against Republicans, too.

Thank you Senator Boxer for bringing out the truth so we can do something to prevent this from happening again.
