Grass Valley needs new professional theater group

The following is my plea that the theater lovers of Grass Valley can come to the foreground and build a top-quality theater company.

Several months ago, the musician Wynton Marsalis appeared under the sponsorship of the Nevada County Arts Council, and in a two-day appearance drew 2,200 patrons, who paid from $20 to $70 a ticket. This example propels me to the reasoning that we have a tremendous audience potential for a quality theater company.

The performance level of this company-to-be must be above the community theater level, and be equal to theater companies in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.

My professional background is acting coach to Warner Brothers, Universal, MGM, and Disney Studios over a 30-year period. I am the producer/director of three films and 60 professional theater productions around the country.

My hope is that sponsors, performers and writers fill this theater vacuum in Grass Valley. During the next month, I will start a professional theater company and actors’ workshop.

All monies will go towards the establishment of this theater company.

Looking forward to any and all interest – Herb Robins, 477-7394.
