Grass Valley man hit by car, treated and released

A Grass Valley man struck by a car Thursday while walking alongside Highway 49 near Combie Road was treated and released from Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.

Mark Beyers, 42, suffered cuts to his arms, face and head after being hit by a Saturn station wagon driven by 82-year-old Anne Velazquez of Auburn, according to California Highway Patrol Officer George Kirbyson.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m., as Beyers walked south along the highway’s northbound shoulder and Velazquez turned left at Combie to go north on 49, Kirbyson said. With Velazquez going about 15 mph, Beyers rolled onto the hood, struck the windshield, and rolled to the ground.
