Grand jury applications available

The Nevada County Superior Court is now accepting applications for participation on the 2002/2003 Nevada County Grand Jury. The primary function of the Nevada County Grand Jury is to inquire into county matters of civil concern, such as the needs of county officers, changes in the method or system of performing the duties of the agencies subject to investigation and to render periodic or annual reports of its investigations along with such recommendations the grand jury deems appropriate.

Nevada County has been fortunate to have outstanding grand jury panels over the last several years. Service on the grand jury is an important commitment to our community and to more efficient and responsible local government. Grand jurors should expect to serve 20 to 30 hours per month.

If you are interested in applying for membership on the 2002/2003 Grand Jury, please telephone Audrey Thomsen, Judicial Secretary, Nevada County Superior Court, (530) 265-1273. You can also visit our Web site at
