Give public a choice
Mr. Ackerman’s articles in the paper seem to have raised the environmental army because he has exercised his right to free speech and he also prints theirs. Note them in the paper every day it is printed. Why are they crying so much when they have had outside funds to help them with their goal of controlling others’ property to meet their opinions of what it should be?
As I see The Union, the rhetoric never changes. We have often given the area where our position is presented in sources that have a lot of investigation behind them and are used in court cases. It seems that the environmentalists want to continue their own way, as they accuse us. We are accused of being extremists? From the written literature in the paper, it is very easy to determine who is and is not. The vituperation is indicative of fairness that is nonexistent. So it seems that there is going to be no agreement between either side. The constitutional way is to bring it to a vote, and after that no one should have any further comment.
My concern is that the board is not going to honor the idea of the public having a choice. Perhaps they intend to have as much as is done and vote it into county laws before election time, and then it would not matter. Well, we will soon know. However, I also believe that these folks have created an unfavorable opinion of themselves in this county and will bear the consequences. Apparently, this county is going to have two antagonistic groups of folks for a long long time to come. Personally, I am very glad Mr. Ackerman is here. I believe both sides will be heard, and the citizens of Nevada County can make their choice.
