Get U.N. out of U.S.

Mark Rosso

For the past few months we have been hearing about the extensive scandal involving the U.N. oversight of the oil for food program that preceded the war. However, I have yet to see any U.N. official explain themselves. I have heard a U.N. official say they don’t have to answer to anyone.

This, along with the protections afforded to these officials through diplomatic immunity, disturbs me. We’re talking about billions of dollars that should have gone to the Iraqi people. Who do these people answer to? When the corruption reaches the highest levels, there most certainly will not be any internal oversight.

The U.N. appears to me to be haven for corruption, with the U.S taxpayer footing the bill. Maybe it’s time to rethink the usefulness of the U.N. At the very least get these crooks out of our country and tell them to set up shop elsewhere. Maybe Syria? I am sure the Syrians provide diplomatic immunity as well.
