Garden party raises funds for FREED

FREED Center for Independent Living will be host to a garden party and silent auction fund-raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at 154 Hughes Road in the garden next to the FREED office.

At the free event, community members can meet the board of directors and staff members while enjoying live music provided by Jukolin, hors d’oeuvres and no-host beverages.

Silent auction items include a wall hanging by fiber artist and former FREED board member Spencer McClay, a “Bill’s Chuckwagon” barbecue dinner for 25 guests prepared by the Nevada County Substance Abuse Recovery Center, a limited- edition lithograph called “Golden Legacy” by Stephen Saylor, and many other items and services donated by local merchants.

In case of bad weather, the event will be held indoors.
