Freedom lives at Nevada Union

It warmed this American’s heart to read in your latest “Generation Why” insert that Nevada Union High School is allowing the formation of an Anarchy Club. Congratulations to the club members and their advisor, Mr. Cartan, for braving threats in order to exercise the democratic freedoms that our servicemen and women are risking their necks to defend and promote.

I’m not an anarchist myself, and after anarchism has been thoroughly debated at NU, there may be few who remain convinced of its wisdom or practicality, but it would be sad – to say the least – if we were to deny our young citizens the opportunity to openly debate it.
