Founding Fathers’ view

How would are country’s Founding Fathers look upon the actions of the current Bush administration?

Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The spirit of the times may alter, will alter. Our rulers will become corrupt, our people careless. A single zealot may commence persecutor, and better men be his victims.”

The understanding by the framers that powerful leaders can become corrupt is the very reason for the structure of our U.S. constitution.

“[Oppose] with manly firmness [any] invasions on the rights of the people.” – Thomas Jefferson, 1776.
