My job title: Gold Country Stage Bus Driver

What I do in my job: I drive four days a week and on two different routes. Transport passengers for shopping appointments.

Why my job is important to the public: With the economy, many people need the services of public transportation to carry on their daily duties. This service is greatly needed for our area.

The special skills and talents I bring to my job: First and foremost to transport people in a safe manner. To offer assistance to the disabled and help seniors with shopping packages. It is very important to have strong customer service skills.

The best part of my job is: To serve the public. To encourage others to be the best they can be to others.

A day at work I’ll always remember is … : I have been working for the county a few months short of 10 years. Your article could not cover all the stories we as drivers experience – good ones as well as more difficult ones.

How I got my job: Ten years ago, I was hired as a temporary driver and worked into full time.

How long I’ve been working here: Almost 10 years.

My dream job would be: To help and encourage others to learn and grow to be the best they can be.

My family: My husband, Dave; three sons – Erik, Wayne, and Jason; four grandchildren – Kira, Xenia, Jacob, Courteney.

My hobbies: When I was thinner, I enjoyed tennis. I still enjoy oil painting, watercolor, and currently using the medium of glass to make lamp work glass beads, plates, and windows.

When I was a kid, I … : Dreamed of being an artist or teaching art.

My dream vacation: I would like to be pampered and spoiled.

If a movie were made of my life, I would be played by: Many people tell me I look like Teri Garr.

The people who have made the biggest difference in my life: My father has been gone 36 years, but his love and guidance was true and strong. The people who have believed in me and encouraged me.

My hero: There are many people who have encouraged me in my life. I would like to feel everyone I’ve met has been a hero to me in some special way!

The best book I’ve read lately … : Lately I read art books. The book I’ve truly enjoyed was “The Shell Seekers.” Art. Romance. Family.

I like living in Nevada County because … : It is beautiful! I like the location.

Thought for the day: Help anyone with or without knowing their name. Be thankful for those who have helped you knowing or not knowing their names. We cannot go through life alone!
