Fit and paying for it

Thanks for another article on obese Americans. They cannot seem to figure it out themselves or what to do ab- out it. I’m not fat, a little skinny in my girlfriend’s opinion.

Not being fat makes me a lot of things, but most importantly I am very healthy. I do not smoke, I drink in moderation, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, exercise daily, and practice yoga.

It is not always easy eating right. French fries taste great, especially with ketchup and tabasco sauce. Umm cold beer. Exercising is tough, but we live in an area with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors while exerting ourselves.

Being self-employed, I pay for my own health insurance. Last May, I turned 50 and my insurance company raised my premiums dramatically. They never asked me about my diet or health, whether I smoked or drank or if I was overweight. I received a letter from my insurance company yesterday informing me that they will be raising my premiums again due to increasing health costs. Our health system stinks. Healthy lifestyles should be rewarded.
