First Amendment lesson

I am increasingly discouraged by some in our Republican Party who quite obviously do not remember the Constitution of the United States of America. It is just wrong to trample on the rights of those we don’t happen to agree with. Why aren’t we as a party trying to set a good example instead of validating other’s opinions that we are the party of hate and self-serving politics?

Here is a lesson in First Amendment rights:

“Bill of Rights, Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

My Republican Party believes in the U.S. Constitution and respect for everyone’s rights under that document. I am a Republican because …I believe that Americans value and should preserve their feeling of national strength and pride, and at the same time share with people everywhere a desire for peace and freedom and the extension of human rights throughout the world.
